Independent, reasoning-first practice for the SAP® C_THR97 SuccessFactors Onboarding certification, built for the 2026 Scenario-Based Assessment format.
Who it's for: SAP SuccessFactors consultants and HR-technology specialists — including partner consultants and administrators moving into an SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding implementation role — who want a recognized associate credential proving they can configure the new-hire, compliance, document, and offboarding processes as a mentored member of a project team.
The SAP® C_THR97 certification confirms that you hold the foundational knowledge and applied skills needed to configure SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding as a mentored member of an implementation team. It spans the full new-hire journey — enabling Onboarding in provisioning, assigning role-based permissions, initiating onboarding from Recruiting, shaping the onboarding data model and programs, activating compliance forms and e-signature document flows, and wiring up email services — as well as lifecycle events such as rehire, internal hire, offboarding, and process-variant customization. Because it is delivered as a Scenario-Based Assessment built around a single guided activity, the exam rewards applied configuration rather than isolated recall. It targets the consultant profile at an entry-level, project-participation depth; note that provisioning rights on live customer systems are granted only to registered SAP partner consultants, not to customers or independent consultants even once they are certified.

The blueprint areas to focus your preparation on.
Understanding the onboarding process at a high level — its purpose, the sequence of steps a new hire moves through, and how onboarding data is protected — then enabling the module in the provisioning area, switching on document-management features, and scheduling the synchronization jobs the process relies on.
Assigning the role-based permissions that let consultants, administrators, hiring managers, recruiters, and new hires each perform their part, then initiating the process from Recruiting and adding new hires directly, so the right participants can act at the right moments.
Describing and configuring the onboarding data model, then building the programs that structure a new hire's experience — defining responsible groups, assembling programs, attaching tasks, and scheduling central orientation meetings so activities are delivered in the right order.
Identifying, enabling, and configuring the available compliance forms, switching on E-Verify where required, and building custom metadata-framework objects to gather extra information — including controlling whether those custom objects are visible to new hires.
Setting up document templates, configuring e-signature options including DocuSign, and running the email services layer — using preconfigured and custom templates, creating custom tokens for message content, and troubleshooting notification delivery through the email status view.
Handling the full range of onboarding lifecycle events — rehire checks, cancellations and no-show handling, internal hires, restarting processes, and offboarding or termination with alumni options — and tailoring flows through the process variant manager and its supporting business rules.
Connecting SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding to Recruiting, Employee Central, Learning, Work Zone, external HRIS or ATS systems, and identity authentication, building story reports on onboarding data, and applying the underlying platform administration — role-based permissions, the metadata framework, business rules, and home-page configuration — that the module depends on.
