The SAP® E_BW4HE certification confirms that you can implement and model an SAP BW/4HANA data warehouse — not just describe the differences from classic SAP BW. Positioned as a delta specialist credential for the SAP BW consultant profile, it assumes both foundational SAP BW/4HANA training and real project experience. The scope spans the modeling artifacts of SAP BW/4HANA (InfoObjects, the advanced DataStore Object, Open ODS views, CompositeProviders, BW queries), data extraction through the Operational Data Provisioning framework, hybrid modeling that combines SAP HANA calculation views with BW models, the enhanced layered architecture, data lifecycle management and data tiering, and the tools and approaches for migrating from SAP BW to SAP BW/4HANA. Because it is delivered as a System-Based Assessment, the exam rewards applied execution: you work through modeling and configuration tasks in a live system rather than answering isolated recall questions.

1. 1Treat the data flow as one connected pipeline — inbound, corporate memory, data warehouse, and virtualization layers — so you can trace how an extraction or modeling choice affects the query results downstream.
2. 2Drill the Operational Data Provisioning contexts side by side: classic extractors, CDS-view, BW InfoProvider, calculation-view, and SLT-based sources each behave differently, and the exam often frames extraction as a context-specific configuration task.
3. 3Practise the modern modeling artifacts hands-on — advanced DataStore Object, Open ODS views, CompositeProviders, and BW queries — since knowing when to reach for each artifact is more valuable than memorizing individual field settings.
4. 4Rehearse hybrid modeling end to end: explore a SAP HANA calculation view, consume it from SAP BW/4HANA, and generate calculation views from BW models, because mixed scenarios are a frequent source of multi-step tasks.
