It is aimed at the implementation consultant who works in a mentored role across planning and delivery, so earlier project exposure helps but is not strictly required. The scope centres on configuring how transaction documents — purchase orders, invoices, goods receipts, ship notices, requests for quotation, and more — flow end to end between an SAP ERP or S/4HANA backend, the gateway add-on, the gateway portal, and SAP Business Network. You are expected to grasp each configuration object's purpose, establish global and general settings, work with the mapping tool and content-based routing, replicate procurement and sourcing master data, and validate connectivity and document transformation. Because it is delivered as a Scenario-Based Assessment, the exam rewards applied configuration judgement over isolated recall.

Global & General Settings Configuration

Configuring the foundational settings that enable integration — RFC destinations, port and logical-system definitions, receiver ports, middleware enablement, attachment and comment support, variant and partition mapping, and the general backend settings for SAP Business Network, SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing, and SAP Ariba Buying and Invoicing (Procurement).

Portal Configuration & Deep-Dive Tools

Connecting to the gateway, editing ERP information, navigating the home screen and My Configurations, and creating integration projects with direct and mediated connectivity — plus using the portal tools such as the Document Validator, Connectivity Tool, Transaction Tracker, and audit logs to confirm, test, and deploy a project.

Mapping Tool & Content-Based Routing

Working with the mapping tool to build and adjust standard and custom mappings, applying node functions, handling line-item extrinsics and date-format changes, understanding tool limitations, and configuring content-based routing with xPaths, operands, and custom inbound and outbound transactions.

Testing & Validation

Verifying an integration before go-live by using the Connectivity Tool to test system connectivity and the Document Validator to confirm document transformation behaves as expected, ensuring transaction documents move correctly across the connected systems.

Master Data Integration

Replicating and maintaining the master data the integration depends on — supplier, user, payment-terms, tax-code, and catalog data — including procurement and strategic-sourcing master data, supplier lifecycle and performance (SLP) synchronisation with MDG, event linkages, filters, parameters, and scheduled export jobs.

Transaction Data Integration

Configuring the end-to-end document flows through inbound and outbound IDoc, web-service proxy, and strategic-sourcing integrations — invoices, purchase orders, goods receipts, ship notices, requests for quotation, and quote messages — across the SAP backend, the gateway portal, and SAP Business Network or the sourcing site.
